Diagnostics

Radiology
Radiographs (x-rays) are extremely valuable tools that can aid in diagnosing many different health conditions. They can provide us with useful information on every body system, and that helps us administer the best possible treatment to your pet. Our digital x-ray machine generates instant images promoting a faster and more precise diagnosis. Radiographs along with other diagnostic testing allow veterinarians to completely assess your pet’s health.
Laboratory
Diagnostic testing is an important part of keeping your pet healthy. We offer annual wellness blood work as part of your pet’s annual exam. It includes a CBC, chemistry profile, urinalysis, thyroid level and a heartworm test. For felines, it also includes a feline leukemia/AIDS test. This blood work can provide us with vital information that can lead to early detection of serious diseases. If your pet becomes ill, our in-house laboratory allows us to perform diagnostic tests quickly, even while you wait. Blood work is required before all surgeries and dental procedures to determine if your pet can be safely anesthetized. Our laboratory is also equipped for dermatologic testing.
Allergy Testing
Allergy testing is a long-term solution for a chronic problem. Many times we are able to eliminate environmental elements that are contributing to your pet’s allergies. By desensitizing the pet, we can often avoid use of medications such as cortisone which can have long-term negative effects on their health.
Endoscopy
Reduction or elimination of pain for our patients is a priority at Eads Animal Hospital. Endoscopy is the use of a tiny camera for viewing the inside of your pet without any incisions. Clients, colleagues and staff members can now join the doctor in viewing your pet’s inner workings live on a color monitor or saved as video prints. Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy is possibly the most widely used application for veterinarians. Many surgeries have been avoided by using the endoscope to detect and retrieve foreign objects swallowed by pets. Endoscopic equipment has many uses and can be a surgical, as well as a diagnostic solution.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasound uses sound waves to make images of an animal’s organs. It is a noninvasive way to evaluate the internal structures of the body, mainly the chest and abdomen and their organs. Often times it is used along with radiographs and helps us to better evaluate the function of each organ.
